Next in Nonprofits delivers vital services to the social good sector, especially in fundraising and communications. We are a collaborative of professionals (Full- and part-time with Next in Nonprofits as well as project contractors) that provide these services – and are expanding our team to meet that need. Our approach with clients is to have open dialogue and encourage creative thinking. We are looking for people committed to our mission, vision and values who have a strong writing background.

Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
Next in Nonprofits provides outsourced development, communications, and strategy services to charities and social good organizations. We specialize in social communications (social media, web content, donation pages) and social fundraising, including peer-supported fundraising. We also offer grant writing, case statements, campaign strategy and execution, and more. Strategic services, including budgeting and planning, are also available.

We seek a new consultant to join the team. Our consultants help devise specific goals and plans, customized for each client based on their assets and strategic needs. We then work with clients to execute those strategies, including grant writing, individual donor campaigns, email marketing, social media engagement, and more. Our new consultant need not be an expert in every area and will be afforded the opportunity to learn and grow in the work based on their own desires and interests as they align with client goals.

A successful consultant will be able to meet the client where they are (figuratively and sometimes literally), keep the work positive and exciting, and demonstrate progress for the clients on a measurable plan. Flexibility and understanding are important traits and a belief that it is always possible to move forward (sometimes quickly, sometimes more slowly). Coaching and support are available, but a degree of independence is important as Next in Nonprofits is a virtual organization and does not currently have joint office space.

Most client meetings and support are done remotely, but occasional meetings in person at client sites may be required. When safe to do so, some travel may be required but less than one day per month.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
A quick learner and a passionate advocate for the social good sector are key requirements. Formal educational levels are not required but are welcomed as they relate to how a candidate connects to the work of nonprofits and building support for their missions. Experience is helpful, but the ability to learn and implement is more important than experience.

Preferred Skills
Comfort with Internet-based technologies. Donor databases, grants management systems, social media publishing tools, and the like. Comfort with a range of productivity software, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other tools used in constructing information for audiences. Excitement about analytics is a plus. Do you have stories to share about Google Analytics or audience building in social media advertising? Ability to create a calendar of actions and execute those plans. And the ability to change those plans when external forces conspire to lead them astray. Commitment to the goals of the social sector. We come here not to praise billionaires, but to reclaim those assets for the common good.

Equal opportunity/Affirmative Action employer
Next in Nonprofits strongly encourages applicants from historically marginalized identities. Training is available and lack of direct experience should not be a barrier to application.

Health insurance and related benefits
Next in Nonprofits does not currently offer healthcare benefits. Wages have been scaled to compensate for this lack of offering, and persons needing coverage are encouraged to use the MNsure exchange. Paid Time Off (PTO) is 15 days per year plus all federal holidays. We look forward to adding retirement contributions and additional benefits as the organization grows.

Additional Notes
Building aircraft while flying them is a definite plus.
